The Grissom Air Museum remains committed to the preservation and sharing of the stories of the Cold War’s military aviators.  Our ability to do this work has been made possible through the support of individuals, foundations, local businesses, and community groups since our founding in 1981.  Neither the Heritage Museum Foundation nor the Grissom Air Museum receive financial support from the U.S. Department of Defense and operates as a private 501(c)3 as defined by the IRS.

Donors who support the GAM are the reasons why in the last year we were able to:

• Host over 1,500 students for school and youth group field trips
• Maintain over two dozen airplanes
• Mount all new exhibits in the Heritage Museum
• Break ground and complete the Cervantes Building
• Let staff participate in community outreach events
• Hire two interns from Indiana University Kokomo and Purdue University
• Purchase much needed materials for collections storage and maintenance

In short, without donors like you, the GAM would simply be unable to meet its mission.  And as one of only a handful of Cold War museums in the United States, the work we do is paramount.

And we’re excited to announce that beginning 2027, every dollar donated to the museum will be match 1:1 up to $50,000 by a special State of Indiana grant!  This grant supports the expansion of our exhibits, supports our marketing and outreach so everyone knows about us, and most importantly, support the (costly) work of maintaining the airplanes in our care.
