We talked about 6 to 8 sponsorships
which we will allocate an area in front of the horizontal stabilizer for
corporate logo’s. Sponsorships’ will be $1,000. The project
will also accept donations. Donors list will not be placed on the
aircraft but will be on the email newsletter distribution list on the J3
Project’s progress.
We agreed to meet every
Monday and work days will be every Monday and Tuesday.
If a different day is better
for someone we can schedule around it.
Jerry asked that when some
one is there to work on the J3 Cub he/she sign the Montgomery Aviation
work log.
We agreed to strip the fabric
from the fuselage and inspect the airframe and come up with an assessment
of cost to refurbish.
Worked preformed.
The bottom part of the fuselage
showed some rust damage that will need to be repaired.
No real big surprised.
The engine was removed.
Roger will build an engine stand.
Norm and Roger will do research
for the project using the internet.
The
"J" in Piper J3 Cub is named after Walter Jamouneau. Clarence Gilbert
Taylor asked Water to make some improvements on the E2 in 1935. Taylor
didn't like the sleek new lines and fired Water.
Shortly
afterwards Bill Piper took control of the company and rehired Walter and
adapted the sleek new lines into the J2. 1937 started the production run
of J3's.
